Yesterday (4th) afternoon, a Korean oil tanker, a South Korean Kemi, departing from Saudi Arabia to Fujaria in the UAE was detained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.



It is reported that the Korean Kemi, which was passing through the Strait of Hormuz near Oman, is currently being moved to Bandar Abbas in southern Iran for investigation in response to a request from Iranian military authorities for investigation cooperation.



The tanker was found to have 20 sailors in total, including 5 Korean sailors, 11 Myanmar, 2 Indonesians, and 2 Vietnam.



In a statement, the Iranian military said the move was the result of repeated violations of environmental regulations by South Korean oil tankers.



He said the vessel contained 7,200 tons of chemicals, and said the measure was at the request of the Prosecutors' Office of Hormuz State and the Port Authority, and that it will be investigated by law enforcement authorities in the future.
