  • Jars of yogurt, tubes of mayonnaise ... All packaging can now be placed in the yellow bin.

  • The measure, which already concerned the whole city of Nantes as well as La Montagne, Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau and Le Pellerin, is being extended to the rest of the Nantes area.

This is a measure that will avoid many questions within the homes of the Nantes metropolitan area when clearing the table.

Since Friday, you no longer need to worry about knowing in which bin to throw your yoghurt pots, polystyrene tubs or empty mayonnaise tubes.

"As of January 1, 2021, throughout the metropolis, all plastic packaging will be sorted," announces the community.

Clearly, you have to place them all in your yellow bag or bin, so that they are recycled and not incinerated.

This change, which will become a national obligation in 2022, had already been implemented in October 2019 throughout the city of Nantes as well as in La Montagne, Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau and Le Pellerin.

For all other residents of the metropolis, whose waste is collected by private service providers, it will be necessary to get started while Nantes metropolis has set itself the goal of reducing by 20% per capita, in 2030, the quantities of household waste in the territory.

Another desire of the metropolis is to make the most of the waste produced (65% by 2025 compared to 45% today), in particular thanks to the modernization of the Arc-en-ciel 2034 plant in Couëron.

This is where our packaging is sorted before being sent to recycling companies.

No need to rinse them before throwing them away

So much for the theory, let's now move on to practice: for operations to run as smoothly as possible, there is no need to put your plastic waste in the water, but avoid nesting them.

The metropolis also specifies that small aluminum packaging, such as coffee capsules or compote gourds can also be thrown in the yellow bin.
