It is already known that many older people feel insecure in the digital world, and this is also stated by this new Sifo survey commissioned by the Swedish Public Employment Service.

But even many younger people feel that their digital skills are not enough - more precisely 37 percent in the age group 18-34 years.

- The transformation as a result of new technology and digitalisation is going very fast and has been accelerated by the crisis.

This means that even young people can feel insecure.

Many professions will change and then you need to acquire new knowledge for the profession you have chosen, says Annika Sundén, head of analysis at the Swedish Public Employment Service.

Competence training required

In a report from the World Economic Forum (WEF) in October, 94 percent of business leaders answered that they expect employees to need new skills at work.

Since 7 December, the Swedish Public Employment Service has changed its system so that all jobseekers in Sweden are continuously encouraged to take courses in digital skills.

It can really help to understand how digital tools and services can affect your own industry and what skills you can use to move forward, says Google's Sweden manager Anna Wikland.
