Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - The "baker von Siegelsbach" sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and attempted murder must remain in prison for seven more years.

The Higher Regional Court (OLG) Karlsruhe confirmed a decision by the Heilbronn Regional Court, which last year refused to be released on probation after 15 years and set the minimum length of imprisonment at 22 years.

The now 62-year-old man had lodged a complaint against this, which the OLG now rejected with the decision published on Monday.

The decision that has now been made does not mean that the man will be released without further examination after serving the further prison term, added the OLG.

The decision is final.

(Ref .: L 1 Ws 344/20).

The 62-year-old former village baker attacked a savings bank in Siegelsbach in the Heilbronn district in 2004, shot a customer and seriously injured her husband and a bank employee. In 2008 he was convicted of murder and attempted murder by the Stuttgart Regional Court. In addition, the court determined the particular gravity of the guilt. This precluded early release from prison after 15 years. The Heilbronn district court acquitted the man in 2006, but the BGH conceded the acquittal in May 2007 because of incorrect evidence. The former baker had protested his innocence to the end.
