Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) sees a great willingness of the people in Brandenburg to be vaccinated against the corona virus.

"We feel a great willingness to vaccinate in the population and receive many inquiries," said the Minister of the German Press Agency on Sunday.

According to her, a lot of people wanted to get vaccinated immediately.

But there are only limited amounts of vaccine available at the beginning, she said.

In Brandenburg, appointments for corona vaccinations will start by telephone on Monday (January 4th).

It is regulated nationwide via a call center that can be reached on 116 117.

In order to reduce the number of serious illnesses and deaths as quickly as possible, people over 80 years of age and residents in old people's and nursing homes would first be vaccinated.

These are particularly at risk, said Nonnemacher.

According to the Ministry of Health, residents have already been vaccinated in five stationary nursing homes across the country: in Großräschen, Nauen, Cottbus, Forst and Premnitz.

According to statistics from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 224 nursing home residents have received vaccinations so far.
