     takes stock.

  • The date has been postponed by a few months but the regional and departmental elections are the major political meeting of the year 2021.

  • Much work is continuing in transport and on the Notre-Dame de Paris side where the peril decree has still not been lifted.

Now we know that a virus can change everything.

After this year 2020, marked by the health crisis and two confinements, therefore places with a certain dose of uncertainty in 2021. If the world of culture and catering remains in the almost total unknown, some meetings and projects should still take place this year.

Politics, transport, works… What will be the major deadlines of the year in Paris and Ile-de-France?

 takes stock.

Politics

These are the last ballots before the presidential election: The regional and the departmental.

But beware, the date has been changed.

The date for the convening of voters will be fixed by decree, no later than six weeks before the election: the choice should stop between June 13 and 20 or June 20 and 27.

"Expected text and direct consequence of the health crisis and of the report which was submitted by Jean-Louis Debré, the Minister of the Interior presented a bill postponing the regional and departmental elections to June", specified the Minister of the Interior. government spokesperson Gabriel Attal.

The text will be examined at first reading in the Senate the week of January 25.

In Ile-de-France, the battle for regional has already started.

The outgoing president, Valérie Pécresse has not yet officially declared herself, but should be a candidate for her succession (except for a huge surprise).

Julien Bayou (EELV) and Audrey Pulvar on behalf of the Socialist Party (Ile-de-France in common) advance their pawns.

On the side of LREM, Jean-Michel Blanquer positions himself with caution.

Finally, the year will be marked by the deployment of the municipal police in the capital.

Objective: 5,000 police officers by 2024, trained in a Parisian school.

Transport, parking and traffic

After the inauguration with great fanfare of the arrival of line 14 in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), one station is still missing.

In January 2021, the Porte de Clichy station, serving the new court, will open to travelers.

Other works will also continue this year on the 14, for new extensions both to the north, to Saint-Denis Pleyel (Seine-Saint-Denis), and to the south, to the airport of Orly (Essonne), just in time for the Olympic Games in 2024. Work on lines 15 and 16 will also continue.

Just like the Eole project.

It is scheduled to come into service at the end of 2022, up to Nanterre, then at the end of 2024, up to Mantes-la-Jolie.

On the traffic side, parking could become chargeable for two-wheelers in the capital.

The subject should be under discussion at the town hall of Paris during the year 2021.

Works and town planning

Work should begin in January and until July at the Pont Neuf.

Restoration work on the retaining walls and guardrails of the Place du Pont Neuf is planned.

Several works also concern museums.

The restoration project of the emblematic escalator of the Center Pompidou, "the caterpillar" is supposed to be completed in the first half of 2021

After several years of work, the Carnavalet museum must reopen its doors if the health crisis also allows it.

Finally, Notre-Dame de Paris continues its titanic project.

The peril decree should only be lifted by the prefect around mid-2021.

"It is under surveillance and we are optimistic but we must remain cautious," said one within the public establishment responsible for the conservation and restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, last spring.
