Xinhua News Agency, United Nations, January 1 (Reporter Wang Jiangang) The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on the 1st that on New Year’s Day 2021, 371,500 "New Year babies" are expected to be born around the world.

  According to UNICEF, it is expected that more than half of "New Year babies" will be born in the following ten countries: India (60,000), China (35,600), Nigeria (21,400), Pakistan (14,100), Indonesia (12,300), Ethiopia (12,000), the United States (10,300), Egypt (9455), Bangladesh (9236) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (8640).

  Through analysis of national census and registration data and the United Nations "World Population Outlook" report, UNICEF predicts that approximately 140 million babies will be born worldwide in 2021, and their average life expectancy is 84 years.

  UNICEF Executive Director Faure said that for the future of these children, the international community should work together to "make 2021 a fairer, safer and healthy year for all children."
