Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The school management association NRW demands that teachers be vaccinated earlier than currently planned.

Medical staff and nursing staff in hotspots should certainly have priority, but it could not be the case that teachers would get their turn sometime in the summer, said the chairman of the NRW school management association, Harald Willert, on Saturday of the German press agency.

In a letter to Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) Willert wrote: "Anyone who demands comprehensive face-to-face teaching with incidence values of 200 must ensure that those who give this teaching have been vaccinated beforehand."

Wherever the vaccinations could not be made possible in time for the start of school after the Christmas holidays, the school principals would have to independently decide how to organize lessons from January 11th.

It is not about pushing yourself forward in competition with other groups, said Willert.

But one must also take into account that the teachers who were vaccinated would no longer be absent because they would have to be in quarantine.

That would be a major benefit for everyone.
