Madrid (AP) - A possible change of football professional David Alaba from FC Bayern Munich to Real Madrid is getting closer, according to a report in the sports newspaper “Marca”.

The Spanish record champions want to intensify their efforts at the beginning of the new year and make the transfer for the summer perfect as soon as possible, the newspaper reported.

The 28-year-old's contract in Munich expires on June 30th, and the defender could change for free.

According to "Marca", Real is therefore assuming strong competition in advertising for Alaba.

Alaba has already indicated that he would like to play at Real, writes the "Marca".

In terms of sport, the defender also fits very well into the team of coach Zinedine Zidane, who is said to have already agreed to signing the Austrian.

Alaba's negotiations with the German record champions about a contract extension failed in the autumn.

Bayern President Herbert Hainer announced at the time that FC Bayern had withdrawn what he saw as a very lucrative and fair contract offer to the defense chief after months of poker.
