Berlin (dpa / bb) - According to the latest information, doctors and nurses treat 430 Covid 19 sufferers in the intensive care units of Berlin's hospitals.

This means that every third intensive care bed is still occupied by corona patients, as can be seen from the Senate's daily situation report on Saturday.

Clinics must therefore postpone planned interventions.

The Charité had switched to a pure emergency program before Christmas.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 1,285 people have died of or with Covid-19 in Berlin.

By Saturday, the Berlin health authorities had reported a total of 98,109 infections with the coronavirus, 460 more than on Friday.

79 050 people are considered recovered.

According to official figures, the so-called seven-day incidence is lower in the new year than it was before Christmas.

On average across Berlin, there were 130.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.

The number is difficult to compare with the run-up to Christmas, because there were a third fewer corona tests in the last week of 2020 than in the previous week.
