A Syrian medical source reported that five people were killed and nine others were injured in a car bomb explosion in the city of Ras al-Ain in the northwestern countryside of Hasaka, yesterday.

The medical source in Al-Hasakah said that two children, two women and a man died as a result of a car bomb explosion in the vegetable market in Ras al-Ain.

He added that three people, including a child, were in critical condition.

On the same level, a source in Al-Hasakah reported that a wanted person of the security forces threw a grenade while being pursued by the Syrian security forces in one of the city’s markets, wounding 19 people.

The city of Ras al-Ain and its countryside witnessed the detonation of more than 15 car and motorcycle bombs, which claimed the lives of dozens of dead and wounded since the Syrian opposition factions took control of the area since the beginning of October 2019.

On the other hand, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates criticized yesterday the statements of the US embassy in Damascus regarding the lifting of sanctions on Syria, blaming it for the suffering of the Syrians.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted an official source in the Syrian Foreign Ministry as saying: “It is not strange that the statement published on the page of the American embassy in Damascus contained lies, in response to the UN Special Rapporteur’s call to us Dohan to lift the sanctions on Syria and consider it the cause of the circumstances. The cruel lives of the Syrians ».

The source added: "The time has come for the American administration to assume full responsibility for the suffering of the Syrians by imposing unilateral coercive measures that deprive the Syrians of providing the requirements for a life and a decent life."

The US embassy in Damascus announced two days ago on Twitter that it would continue to impose sanctions on the Syrian government until a political solution is reached in line with Security Council Resolution 2254.
