Stuttgart (dpa) - In the power struggle of VfB Stuttgart, CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger and President Claus Vogt surprisingly took a step towards each other.

The two quarreled executives had a personal conversation with each other shortly before the game against RB Leipzig on Saturday evening, as they wrote on Twitter.

"Were not the best days that are behind us but today's conversation with @ clausvogt1893 makes me confident that we will solve the upcoming tasks in the interests of VfB," wrote Hitzlsperger.

Vogt described the exchange as a "conversation between men".

«Lately some things have not been good.

We are now both looking for a common path in terms of the club. "

The violent dispute had become public after Hitzlsperger made his application for president at VfB public last Wednesday.

The 38-year-old wants to push Vogt out of the club in the next election at the general meeting.

In addition, he had massively attacked Vogt in the letter and accused him of several errors and ineptitude.

A day later, Vogt responded with his own letter and defended himself against the allegations.

It remains to be seen whether Hitzlsperger will stick to his candidacy after the personal exchange.
