Yesterday, at 10 am, the first passenger journey of the Dubai Metro began on the new Metro 2020 route.

The first trains in service moved from the Jebel Ali Metro Interchange Station, which connects the Red Line to the route, to the Al Furjan Station, the last station currently open on the route consisting of seven stations.

"Emirates Today" monitored active movement at the Jebel Ali station from the first moments of the track’s opening, and the movement gradually increased significantly, as a large number of families arrived from the areas adjacent to the new stations.

The trains of the new route were launched at a time when the Dubai Metro was still operating on its red and green lines without stopping, since it started its regular work hours on Thursday January 31 at 5 in the morning, to continue without stopping, as a result of extending its working hours in order to serve customers during celebrations and the New Year holidays Gregorian.

Route 2020 was constructed, starting from the site of the Jebel Ali Red Line station of the Dubai Metro on Sheikh Zayed Road, to run the 2020 line towards a group of residential, commercial and investment areas, and all the way to the Expo 2020 area.

Yesterday, the operation of the four stations on the new route, which includes the Jebel Ali station, the gardens station, the Discovery Gardens station, in addition to the Al Furjan station.

Passengers confirmed to "Emirates Today" that a little girl who lives in the residential areas surrounding the Al Furjan station came carrying chocolate to distribute them, expressing her joy at running the metro, which coincided with her birthday.

The little girl told passengers that she had always wanted to celebrate the start of metro trips at new stations near her home.

She was waiting impatiently for the stations to open, but she did not expect the opening to happen on her birthday.
