Halle / Burg (dpa / sa) - Hospitals in Saxony-Anhalt were able to welcome the first babies of 2021 to the world shortly after the New Year's Eve celebrations.

Little Rufus was born in Halle on Friday night shortly after 3 a.m., as announced by the St. Elisabeth and St. Barbara Hospital.

The healthy boy is 51 centimeters tall and weighs an impressive 4590 grams.

Rufus is the first child for the happy parents.

In Burg near Magdeburg, the first baby of the year is a girl.

Little Mary Jane was born in the Helios Clinic at 3:34 a.m., was 51 centimeters tall and weighed 3,440 grams.
