"Assigning a fire risk category individually to each facility in Russia from January 1, 2021 will help reduce the workload on the inspector staff and facilitate preparation for inspections of building owners," RIA Novosti quotes an expert of the Strong Russia movement on fire safety, Candidate of Technical Sciences Alexander Podgrushny.

It is noted that the Ministry of Emergencies will be one of the first to switch to a risk-based approach.

It is specified that the higher the potential risks, the more frequent the checks.

Earlier it became known that in 2020, specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia conducted 500 inspections of compliance with fire safety rules in nursing homes and identified 1,400 violations.
