Berlin (dpa) - experiments, anniversaries, changed formats, new seasons of shows and the end of “For Heaven's Sake”.

A selection of what to expect from the major German TV channels in 2021.

FERDINAND VON SCHIRACH: ENEMIES: One criminal case - two films.

Which perspective do you choose - that of the investigator (“Against the Time”) or that of the defense attorney (“The Confession”)?

The focus is on child abduction and the arrest of a suspect.

The two films will run on January 3rd (on the “Tatort” slot on Sunday at the same time on Erste and all thirds as well as on One).

For the audience of the ARD-Mediathek, a shorter and more target-group-specific film was made (“The Trial”).

The actors Klaus Maria Brandauer and Bjarne Mädel can be seen, among others.

I AM A STAR - THE BIG JUNGLE SHOW: The regular “jungle camp” was canceled due to the corona pandemic - RTL did not want to send its people to Australia or to an alternative location in Wales.

Instead, a show produced in Germany is now planned for January 15.

The idea behind it: A candidate can secure a place in the next normal “jungle camp” in Australia by winning the “jungle show”.

Jungle Doctor «Dr.

Bob »is even supposed to be flown in specially for this.

The idea is somewhat reminiscent of the 2015 summer variation "I'm a star - Let me in again!", In which former campers played about being sent to Australia a second time.

In a short time to the border, they have to make an existential decision: get out or continue?

LESS CARNIVAL: Street and hall carnival and carnival are largely canceled due to Corona.

The Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and four Mainz carnival clubs are still preparing the classic "Mainz remains Mainz" for the Friday before Shrove Monday as an ARD broadcast from the Electoral Palace - without an audience on site.

With a view to Corona, the addition “how it sings and laughs” should be dropped.

TV Carnival has a long tradition and has been produced alternately by SWR and ZDF since 1973.

The “Düsseldorf Helau” carnival session, which has been broadcast for over 50 years, is canceled, according to WDR.

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE: After almost 20 years and 260 episodes, the successful ARD series with nuns will be canceled in the spring.

The third season was already running in autumn 2020, with Sarah Lombardi (28) winning.

And ProSieben boss Daniel Rosemann immediately announced: "In spring ProSieben will say again: Who is under the mask?"

Moderator Ruth Moschner and singer Rea Garvey should then form the rate team again.

Most recently, Sonja Zietlow and Bülent Ceylan had taken their regular seats.

Much more is not yet known.

COMMISSIONER HELLER: The last episode of the ZDF crime series runs on January 16.

Lisa Wagner investigated Winnie Heller as Commissioner for six years.

It attracted around seven million viewers several times on Saturday evening.

In the tenth and last case in the series from Wiesbaden with the title “Panic”, the TV commissioner has to deal with the machinations of a pimp ring that forces young girls with so-called loverboys into prostitution.

BETT THAT ..?: Thomas Gottschalk, who turned 70 in May, was supposed to be moderating a one-time "Wetten, dass ..?" Revival on ZDF on November 7, 2020.

Due to Corona, the Saturday evening show was postponed by a year and should now come in autumn 2021 - ten years after Gottschalk's last regular betting show.

THE WEISSE HAUS AM RHEIN: This ARD two-parter at the end of 2021 is about a hotel in Bad Godesberg, where the elites meet after the First World War.

Emil Dreesen, returning from the war, runs it with his Jewish grandmother Adelheid and his sister Ulla, who does not want to conform to the current image of women.

The first advertises: "In Emil's story, the breaks, catastrophes and turns between 1918 and 1938 are reflected in a breathtaking staccato."

BORIS-BECKER-FILM: Fictional in-house productions have become quite rare on RTL, but in 2021 the feature film “Boris Becker: His way to Wimbledon” is in the pipeline.

The aim is to trace the tennis icon's career - from his beginnings to his first Wimbledon victory as a 17-year-old in 1985.

THE NEW ARD WEDNESDAY: In 2021, the first will broadcast more often multi-parts instead of completed films at prime time on Wednesday evening.

They are then available as mini-series in the media library.

The planned TV highlights include the love drama “Little America” about the stationing of US soldiers in the Palatinate after the Second World War, the thriller “Die Toten von Marnow” about drug trials on GDR citizens and the satire “Goldjungs” about one legendary German bank failure in the 1970s.
