December 31, 2020A nurse in California tested positive for Covid-19 more than a week after receiving Pfizer's vaccine.

The pharmaceutical company said it "will review all available information on this case and all reports of a confirmed diagnosis after vaccination," according to Reuters. "Based on our Phase 3 safety and health study. efficacy, the vaccine offers some protection against Covid-19 within about ten days of the first dose and is significantly strengthened after the second dose, which justifies the need for a two-dose series of vaccines, "the manufacturer said.

"The person may have contracted the disease before or shortly after vaccination," he added in a statement.


Matthew W., 45, a nurse at two different local hospitals, said in a Facebook post on Dec.18 that he had received the Pfizer vaccine.

The nurse told ABC News that she had had pain in her arm for a day with no other side effects.

Six days later, on Christmas Eve, he fell ill after serving in a Covid-19 unit.

He had chills and later suffered from muscle aches and fatigue.

He reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 on Boxing Day.
