This is an incredible time for our country… Our freedom is now in our hands and it is up to us to make the most of it.

Exclaims Boris Johnson.

After recalling that the country will be in the presidency of the G7 in 2021 and that it will organize the COP 26 on climate change in Glasgow, the British Prime Minister wishes to reassure on the international status of the United Kingdom.

He says it: Britain will be "

open, generous, outward-looking, internationalist, a nation of free trade.

"

Reunite after Brexit

Boris Johnson also hopes to bring together Britons who have torn apart over Brexit, to the point of seeing the country's unity crack, with Northern Ireland and Scotland having voted in majority against leaving the European Union.

I think the overwhelming instinct of the citizens of this country will be to act as one United Kingdom where England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland work together to express our values all over the world,

 ”he said.

He ends with a touch of optimism by referring to the coronavirus crisis when the country has started its vaccination campaign and it is facing an

explosion in the number of infected

: "

I think 2021 is especially the year when we we will be able to do all these everyday things

: go to the pub, to the concert, to the theater, to the restaurant or simply to hold the hands of our loved ones again normally.

We are not quite there yet, but we can already see the light signal that marks the end of the trip.

And that's why 2021 makes me so confident… Happy New Year everyone

!

 "

There will be plenty who will be only too happy to say goodbye to the grimness of 2020.

But this was also the year when we rediscovered a spirit of togetherness, of community.

In 2021 we have our freedom in our hands and it is up to us to make the most of it.

Happy New Year!
