Krefeld (dpa / lnw) - Third division soccer club KFC Uerdingen has apparently found new investors after the announced exit of its President Mikhail Ponomarev.

The Krefeld Club asked its members in a message on Wednesday evening to agree to a transfer of the shares in a written procedure.

"To put it frankly: our Profi-GmbH is in difficult waters and threatens to drown," said the invitation to the resolution.

Accordingly, those responsible have now succeeded in holding positive discussions with more than one investor: "We ask for your trust and approval in this extraordinary, existence-threatening situation."

The vote should take place by January 15, 2021.

Before that, the members are invited to an online information event.

The 46-year-old Ponomarev, who had invested several million in the club for almost five years as an investor and club boss, announced at the beginning of December that he would retire by the end of the season at the latest.

According to the club announcement, there are now positive signals.

"Entertainment GmbH and Mikhail Ponomarev as shareholders of KFC Uerdingen 05 Fußball GmbH are ready to clear the way for this and transfer their shares to a new investor," wrote the Uerdinger.

Specifically, in the course of the vote, the members should agree to “a participation of further shareholders in KFC Uerdingen 05 Fußball GmbH by way of transfer and / or capital increase regardless of the percentage of the share to be issued in the total shares of the company”.
