Yesterday, the Yemeni government pledged to work to restore stability in Yemen, after a bloody attack on Aden airport upon the arrival of its members to the southern city, leaving dozens dead and wounded, while the US State Department considered that the targeting of Aden airport shows the malicious intent of those trying to destabilize Yemen.

In detail, Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak said yesterday that the government is determined to work from Aden to face the challenges plaguing the country, which is witnessing the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, according to the United Nations.

"The government is determined to fulfill its duties and work to restore stability in Yemen, and this terrorist incident will not deter it from that," he told AFP.

The new government, which includes 24 ministers and its president, Moein Abdul-Malik, arrived in Aden, the temporary seat of the internationally recognized authority, days after it was sworn in before President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, in Saudi Arabia, where he has lived for years.

Government ministers accused the Houthi rebels of being behind the attack, but other officials preferred to wait, noting that government targets in Aden had previously been attacked by the Houthis with missiles and drones, and by extremist organizations, including Al Qaeda and ISIS.

The Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs accused the Houthi militias of targeting the government of political competencies while they arrived at Aden airport, and stressed that: “Evidence and indications indicate that the Houthi militia is the party that carried out this terrorist act, by targeting the airport with three missiles, and with techniques similar to the same techniques they used. These militias, in previous crimes, targeted civilian institutions and facilities.

Bin Mubarak said, "The information and preliminary investigations confirm that the Houthi militia carried out this heinous terrorist act, as Houthi missile launches from Houthi areas were monitored."

He added, "The evidence and the rest of the details about this terrorist targeting will be published upon completion of the investigations carried out by a committee headed by the Minister of Interior."

In Washington, US State Department spokeswoman Kali Brown said that "the attacks that targeted Aden International Airport yesterday coincided with the arrival of new officials in the Yemeni government, and revealed the malicious intent of those trying to destabilize Yemen."

"Such attacks will not stop or undermine efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peace that the Yemeni people deserve," Brown added in a statement.

The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that three of its employees, two Yemenis and a Rwandan national, were killed in the blast, and three others were wounded.

Two of the staff members who were killed were originally reported as missing.

“Our employees were crossing the airport with other civilians,” the organization said in a tweet on the social networking site “Twitter”.

This is a tragic day for us and the people. ”

Following the explosion, members of the government were safely transferred to a presidential palace in Aden, a government official said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the bombings that rocked the airport in the Yemeni city of Aden, calling for a thorough investigation.

The ministry said, in a statement, that "Moscow strongly condemns this criminal act," expressing its condolences to the families of the victims, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the wounded, according to the Russian "RT Al-Arabiya" channel.

The statement stated that Moscow is proceeding from the fact that the attack on Aden airport highlights the importance of a comprehensive settlement to the security and political crisis in Yemen as soon as possible, expressing its conviction that it is impossible to solve the problems that Yemen suffers from, including ensuring security and fighting ISIS and Al Qaeda And other terrorist groups operating in the country, "without all parties to the internal Yemeni conflict developing appropriate compromise solutions."
