Moritzburg / Oberwiesenthal (dpa / sn) - journeys with the Fichtelbergbahn and the narrow-gauge railways in Lößnitzgrund and Weißeritztal will be more expensive in 2021.

Across all tariffs, prices would be increased by about 3 percent on January 1st, the Saxon steam railway company informed on Thursday.

The return trip from Cranzahl to Oberwiesenthal then costs 15.00 euros instead of 14.50 euros.

The price increase was justified with the expected additional costs due to the CO2 tax.

According to the information, the steam trains on the routes consume more than six tons of hard coal every day.

The three narrow-gauge railways were used by around 635,000 passengers in 2019;

A spokeswoman has not yet been able to name an exact number for 2020.
