Stadtkyll (dpa / lrs) - Hundreds of liters of diesel fuel ended up in the Kyll River after an accident with a truck.

A semitrailer truck collided on Thursday near Stadtkyll (Vulkaneifel district) on a slippery road with the crash barriers, as the police announced.

The fuel tanks were torn open, so that about 600 to 700 liters of diesel leaked, seeped into the ground and finally got into the river.

The police estimated the property damage at 100,000 euros.

How high the environmental damage is cannot yet be precisely quantified.

The investigators assumed a sum in the high five-digit range.

The driver and passenger of the articulated truck were slightly injured.
