Strong reactions in France and in Europe after the announcement of new US tariffs in addition to those in force since the end of 2019. For the Trump administration, the account is not there.
It considers that the sanctions already issued are insufficient, and has therefore just added these new taxes.
Brussels denounces this decision.

It is a blow to the French wine and spirits exporters.
The industry claims to be the victim of a conflict that is negotiated between states, and estimates the loss of revenue on all taxes at one billion euros.
This new offensive by the Trump administration, applicable on January 12, 2021, is indeed targeting French and German products by increasing customs duties on non-sparkling wines, grape must and cognac by 25%.
In addition, aeronautical spare parts will suffer 15% of additional taxes.

Airbus regrets "a counterproductive escalation"
Airbus has also regretted "a counterproductive escalation".
The European aircraft manufacturer believes that this will also harm American workers and calls on Brussels to react.
The European executive, too, “deplores” this unilateral action which disrupts the negotiations in progress.
Brussels is counting on the new American administration to settle the dispute between aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus for more than 16 years.
Finally, the French government condemns the American decision.
Support measures should accompany the industries affected by these sanctions.
