A New Year's Eve under curfew and gatherings on public roads prohibited: in times of Covid-19, this transition to the New Year promises to be much less festive than usual.

All under close police surveillance.

So what can we do and not do this December 31, 2020 in France?

“

The best way to celebrate the start of the new year is not to celebrate it,

” said Olivier Véran, French Minister of Health.

One way to announce the color for this New Year's Eve!

With the curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., gatherings in public spaces and travel will be strictly prohibited, except for exceptional reasons.

Everywhere in France, 100,000 police and gendarmes will ensure that this instruction is respected.

However, it is still possible to celebrate New Year's Eve at home, but with a maximum of six guests recommended.

And of course, they will have to stay on site until 6 a.m. at least at the risk of being fined 135 euros.

It is also prohibited to charge entry to a private gathering, which would turn it into a clandestine party, and allow the police to ticket the organizer.

Less accessible public transport

Finally, to avoid any temptation to go out despite everything to party, some large cities like Paris will drastically reduce the frequency of metro and buses from 8 p.m.

And the traffic will also end at 1am.

Finally, to celebrate 2021 in the best sanitary conditions, it will obviously be necessary to give up hugs under the mistletoe at midnight.
