Water-bombing plane ended up at Skavsta

This year, Sweden's and northern Europe's ability to fight fires in forests and land has been strengthened.

Two fire-fighting planes of the type Air Tractor AT-802 Fire boss have been available since this summer at Skavsta airport outside Nyköping.

The plan is the first of its kind in Sweden and had to be used in sharp mode a few times already this summer.

Among other places outside Vimmerby in Småland where the waterfall was captured on film by the rescue service staff.

MDH becomes a university

The school based in Eskilstuna and Västerås will from 1 January 2022 have university status.

This means, among other things, that MDH (or will it be MDU?) Will receive more money for research, which in turn will provide new jobs.

The upgrade will have positive consequences for the future university cities but also for the municipalities in the county, predicts Pär Eriksson, who is chairman of MDH's board.

The regalia are back

After two years on the line, the funeral regalia that were stolen in 2018 could once again be displayed in Strängnäs Cathedral.

In the spectacular coup, a national apple and two royal crowns were stolen.

Items that together were valued at SEK 65 million.

When they were found in February 2019, they were really convincing and only after they were restored were they welcome back to the cathedral, where they are now shown to the public again.

Great willingness to help

When the corona pandemic struck at the beginning of the year, Sörmland was hit hard.

In the spring, we were one of the worst affected regions.

But the willingness to help has been great.

We have reported on everything from start-up corona help groups on Facebook that have gained thousands of members in no time, to fellow human beings who have offered food as a way to support both the care staff and the local restaurant industry.

And not least, we have been told about how voluntary private individuals set up to manufacture disposable items for care in an acute shortage of protective materials.
