It is noted that this was done to perpetuate the memory of the hero of the Great Patriotic War, Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky.

It is also reported that this decision was made at the suggestion of the Sakhalin Regional Duma.

On December 4, in the Leningrad Region, the results of the search for the remains of soldiers who died during the Soviet-Finnish and the Great Patriotic War were summed up. During this year, 3254 people were found and buried with full honors on the territory of the region.
