It is a historic vote.

British MPs approved by an overwhelming majority on Wednesday, on the eve of the United Kingdom's exit from the single European market, the free trade agreement concluded between London and Brussels to frame their relations after Brexit.

The text, which avoids the sudden introduction of customs barriers, was voted with 521 votes in favor and 73 against in second and third readings.

It is due for debate in the afternoon by the Lords, members of the upper house of Parliament, before being promulgated by Queen Elizabeth II for application Thursday at 11 p.m. local time (and GMT).
