"My hometown is in Wuyuan, Jiangxi, where the mountains and clear waters are beautiful..." He talked from childhood memories to the feeling of returning home from a recent vacation, from the development of tourism in the scenic spot to the various changes in the village. In Yu Xiwen's wallet, the only VIP card came from the Xinhua Bookstore in the resident. As soon as he was free on the rest day, Yu Xiwen would check in.
Because of his solid theoretical study, Yu Xiwen was selected into the regiment's theoretical workshop, and later became the only "soldier instructor" in the theoretical light cavalry.
He is good at combining his own experience and experience with theoretical knowledge, using "speaking of soldiers to explain the truth for soldiers", and has given more than 100 classes to his comrades so far.
In September last year, the Rocket Army's biennial political theory teaching post training contest was held as scheduled.
The contestants are all experts and professors who have been engaged in theoretical teaching and research for a long time. Yu Xiwen was invited to serve as a judge of this competition.
It is the first time in the Rocket Army to invite a soldier to serve as a judge of this level of competition.
What is admirable is that Yu Xiwen always speaks out and is ingenious every time he commented. Even the professors present gave him a thumbs up.
"What I did was actually to narrow the distance between theory and reality. I wanted my comrades to see that theory is not'superior'." Yu Xiwen's unit is responsible for information assurance and security protection, which is equivalent to the "central nervous system" of the modern battlefield.
In 2018, the unit's information network equipment was fully upgraded. In the face of complex communication network systems, brand-new operating platforms, and sophisticated system software, it is very difficult to complete equipment debugging in a short time.
Yu Xiwen took the initiative to ask Ying, and he studied in the computer room, and when he encountered problems, he asked the experts for advice.
The equipment was debugged in less than a month, and he was the first to work independently, and he had the ability to be on duty for combat readiness.
The head of the regiment Gu Dunyong praised him and said: "Yu Xiwen is a good master in theoretical study, and training and preparation is an expert."
The rapid opening of portable satellite stations is a "bottleneck" problem that restricts the improvement of unit combat effectiveness. Yu Xiwen and his comrades worked together to tackle the key problem. After repeated optimization procedures, the opening time under field conditions was shortened to half of the original, and the generation of combat effectiveness quickly entered the "fast lane."
"Everything that concerns combat effectiveness is a major matter, and it is our own business!" Yu Xiwen said.
That year, when leading the team to prepare for the mass competition organized by the higher-level units, Yu Xiwen spent half a month studying network security majors that he had never contacted before.
"Our major is communications, and security has nothing to do with us, but squad leader Yu said that we must be prepared regardless of major in preparing for war." Sergeant Yan Nenggai is Yu Xiwen's "apprentice" and one of the team members.
He remembered that during that time, Yu Xiwen taught herself first and then taught them.

Yu Xiwen will collect and sort out the problems found in actual work at any time and write an article "Advice and Suggestions".
In 2012, he found out that his comrades had too many consultations on computer skills appraisal and fewer registrations, and thought it was "useless", so he wrote an article entitled "Several Suggestions for Non-commissioned Officer Skills Appraisal Work". The suggestion of linking certificates to selection and promotion was adopted.
In recent years, Yu Xiwen started with the focus of attention of officers and soldiers and wrote more than 100 suggestions such as "Further Improving the Separation Subsidy System for Non-commissioned Officers" and "Reasonably Increase the Professional Skill Allowance for Non-commissioned Officers". Seven of them were published in military journals. 16 suggestions were adopted by superiors.
He wrote a lot, and Yu Xiwen compiled and printed his own thoughts and insights into four collections including "The Power of Understanding the Truth" and "The Promise in the Heart of the Soldier".
Liu Qinchuan, a professor at the National Defense University, specially wrote the preface for the book "The Commitment in the Heart of the Soldier". He praised Yu Xiwen and said: "A small team of non-commissioned officers studies many major issues in the reform, development and construction of the country and the military."
