Last straight line to make a donation to a recognized association of public utility and benefit from a tax reduction for next year.

Until December 31, midnight, the mobilization is intense in the teams in order to collect last-minute donations, vital to face the economic crisis linked to Covid-19.

A little more than 24 hours: this is the time you have left if you wish to make a donation to an association recognized as being of public utility and benefit from a tax reduction next year.

After midnight on December 31, it will be too late.

For associations and foundations that appeal to the generosity of the public, these last days of December are a crucial period.

Even more in this year 2020, marked by the health and economic crisis of Covid-19, which is hitting vulnerable people hard.

The last straight line

Whether they are well known or not, associations know it: it is in the last weeks of the year that most of the donations arrive.

And the closer we get to the deadline, the more teams are on the go to collect checks and deposits online.

Stéphane Dauge manages the fundraising for the Apprentis d'Auteuil Foundation.

He still hopes to be able to raise funds.

"At forty-eight hours from midnight December 31, the Foundation must bring in 7% of its annual collection, in other words around 2 million euros," he says.

"We have about ten people who are there to answer donor calls, and also to play the role of community managers, in order to raise awareness among the general public via social networks."

"The health crisis has been compounded by an economic crisis which means that the young people in search of professional integration that we support are very vulnerable", explains the member of the Foundation.

Sustainable solidarity needs

In 2020, many associations indicate that they have deployed emergency programs to help people in difficulty.

And donations followed: up 22% in the first semester according to the organization France Générosité.

The challenge now is to face the new needs for solidarity which, like the crisis, promise to be lasting.
