Mühlhausen / Bad Langensalza (dpa / th) - The Hufeland Clinic in the Unstrut-Hainich district receives help from the Bundeswehr in the corona pandemic.

12 members of the armed forces are to support the staff of the hospital with locations in Mühlhausen and Bad Langensalza, as the district office announced on Wednesday.

Among other things, they are to be used for in-house transport services and for the distribution of food, said the hospital's managing director, Jens Kopp, when asked.

In the hospital with normally 455 beds, up to 95 beds are currently reserved for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

25 were initially free on Wednesday.

Another isolation ward was set up in the hospital at short notice after the hospital was temporarily unable to admit any Covid 19 sufferers at the beginning of the week.

The primary care hospital cares for Covid-19 patients who are usually not so seriously ill that they need invasive ventilation.

The proportion of people over 70 is extremely high, said Kopp.
