Munich (dpa / lby) - The AfD member of the state parliament Ralph Müller has left the party after matching media reports.

Müller gave Bayerischer Rundfunk “a number of good reasons” as the occasion.

He told the “Münchner Merkur” that the exit had taken place “with immediate effect”.

On Wednesday, Müller could not be reached at first, the deputy state chairman Hansjörg Müller did not want to confirm the exit.

"As the state executive, we do not comment on pending proceedings," he said simply.

In party circles, however, Müller's move was confirmed on Wednesday.

There it was also said that there had already been a party expulsion process against Müller due to various incidents.

In the Bavarian state parliament, Müller had repeatedly drawn the anger of other parliamentary groups with provocative statements.

There was a scandal when he remained seated at an act of remembrance for the murdered District President Walter Lübcke.

Müller announced that he would continue to exercise his state parliament mandate - but according to BR and "Merkur" he will automatically lose his place in the parliamentary group when he leaves the party.

The faction, which was already deeply divided, thus shrinks to 19 members - initially there were 22.
