During the periodic media briefing held by the UAE government to present the developments of the health situation in the country and highlight the efforts aimed at limiting the spread of the epidemic, the spokesperson for the media briefing of the UAE government, Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, reviewed a set of statistics and figures that reflect the health situation, from 23 to 29. Al-Hammadi said that in light of the emergence of a new boom in Britain and in light of the continuous investigation by the health authorities in the country, it has been proven that there are limited cases in the UAE that came from abroad, indicating the need to adhere to precautionary and preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

He stressed that the Emirati leadership was able to provide a model and example to emulate in addressing the crisis, as the epidemic was dealt with according to an integrated strategy that contributed to limiting its spread and reducing its effects in all sectors of the state.

Al-Hammadi reviewed the most important stations and figures related to the "Covid-19" pandemic in the country since its inception, as he revealed that the number of examinations reached 20 million and 593 thousand and 403 examinations (both types of PCR and DPI), while the number of injuries reached 204 thousand and 369 cases, varying between simple, medium and severe.

He added that the number of recoveries reached 181,400 cases, while the number of deaths reached 662 in the UAE.

Regarding the UAE’s role in supporting international efforts to accelerate the distribution of vaccines, Al Hammadi indicated that the country launched the “Hope Coalition” initiative to prepare to facilitate and support the distribution of six billion doses of vaccinations around the world, with this capacity increasing to 18 billion by the end of 2021.

In terms of efforts exerted in the field of scientific research, and in belief in the value of science, the UAE participated in the third phase of clinical trials of the Russian and Chinese vaccines.

Al-Hammadi indicated that experiments on the Chinese "Sinopharma" vaccine, which relied on using inactive parts of the virus to stimulate the immune system, have achieved positive results, with the effectiveness rate reaching 86%.

The preliminary results also showed 100% protection against moderate and severe infections, and there were no concerns regarding the safety of the vaccine during the follow-up period.

Al-Hammadi explained that the number of volunteers to participate in the experiments reached more than 31 thousand volunteers from residents of the UAE.

During its continuous efforts, the UAE applied the latest scientific standards in its handling of the "Covid-19" disease, surpassing the countries of the Middle East and Africa, and ranked tenth in the world in the effectiveness of treating people with the virus.

Al Hammadi confirmed that the UAE used laser examination technology to diagnose "Covid-19" disease, and was one of the first countries to use plasma and stem cell therapy, and the government succeeded in raising the efficiency of preventive measures by using artificial intelligence tools, which included thermal cameras and the use of robots. And "drones" to complete sterilization operations, use the remote counseling system for people with chronic diseases, and launch community initiatives to support the elderly psychologically and morally.

It extended a helping hand to more than 121 countries around the world, and contributed more than 1,685 tons of urgent aid, and supported more than 1.6 million workers in the medical sector.

Al-Hammadi added that 80% of the World Health Organization’s supplies were passed through the International Humanitarian City in Dubai, and an air bridge was launched to provide health supplies in cooperation with the World Food Program. The UAE also provided millions of meals within the country and sponsored the families of the deceased due to Coronavirus through Community institutions.
