Oberstdorf (dpa) - Local hero Karl Geiger has won the start of the Four Hills Tournament of ski jumpers in Oberstdorf.

The 27-year-old prevailed on Tuesday ahead of Poland's Kamil Stoch and Marius Lindvik from Norway.

Geiger jumped 127 and 136.5 meters in the snowy Allgäu.

The second best German was Markus Eisenbichler.

The 29-year-old Bavarian increased enormously to only 118 meters after a weak first jump.

In the second round, Eisenbichler followed up with a set of 142 meters, which brought him from 27th to fifth.

Behind Geiger and Eisenbichler, only one other German jumped into the World Cup points: Severin Freund came in 25th.
