Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the Corona pandemic, the Diakonisches Werk Württemberg is asking people to donate money rather than objects.

Due to the lockdown, social department stores and diaconal shops are currently closed, the Diakonie in Stuttgart announced on Tuesday.

Donations in kind can therefore not be accepted, processed or passed on.

"For the Diakonie the top priority is that donations reach the people," said CEO Annette Noller according to the announcement.

This is currently easier to achieve with monetary donations.

The Diakonie Württemberg performs social work on behalf of the Evangelical Church of Württemberg and the free churches.

Around 50,000 full-time employees work in the 1,400 Diakonie facilities.
