With AFP,
Towards an extended curfew rather than a new confinement.
This is the option towards which the French authorities are leaning to fight against Covid-19, according to the Minister of Health.
Olivier Véran was the guest of the newspaper of France 2, this December 29, 2020.
"
We are going to propose an extension of the curfew, which instead of starting at 8:00 p.m., will start at 6:00 p.m. in all the territories in which it will prove to be necessary
," he said.
These measures will be applicable from January 2
”.
The minister specified that the territories concerned were "
departments, metropolises (...), in which the incidence rate would be above the maximum alert threshold
".
According to him, "
the situation is more problematic in four regions: that is to say the Grand Est, Bourgogne Franche-Comté, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and the Alpes-Maritimes department in the PACA region
".
The idea of confinement ruled out, at this stage
Olivier Véran added: “
What we are ruling out is the idea of confinement.
We do not want to confine at this stage
: neither generalized containment, nor local containment
.
"
A few minutes before this televised intervention, the Scientific Council, which guides the government, considered "
probable
" an "
uncontrolled resumption of the epidemic
" of Covid-19 in January, because of the "
increased contamination
" caused by the festivals of end of the year, according to its last notice published this Tuesday evening.
