Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The Brandenburg cities of Perleberg (Prignitz), Beelitz (Potsdam-Mittelmark) and Beeskow (Oder-Spree) have received millions of euros in funding from the federal and state governments for the further development of their cities.

Perleberg received 1.9 million euros for further urban development projects, as the Ministry for Infrastructure and State Planning announced on Monday.

Beelitz was awarded federal and state funds amounting to 626,000 euros, Beeskow received support amounting to around two million euros.

The federal and state governments provide the money from the new “Living Centers” and “Social Cohesion” programs.

The aim of the programs is to stabilize and upgrade urban, economically and socially disadvantaged and structurally weak parts of the city and district, as the ministry further announced.

The city of Beeskow received money for the outdoor facilities of Beeskow Castle and the renovation of the station building.

Perleberg can use the funds for the renovation of the listed building “Am Hohen Ende 27”.

The house is to be used as an archive in the future.

Beelitz wants to use the funding to further advance projects in preparation for the State Garden Show in 2022.
