Hamburg (dpa) - According to the Hamburg futurologist Horst Opaschowski (79), Germans are becoming more modest in the Corona crisis.

In a representative survey in November, 58 percent of those questioned said that they would like to be more moderate in terms of consumption and spending in the coming year.

Above all, the older people aged 65 and over wanted to live more frugally, while the boys under 24 wanted to continue to live as they had before, said Opaschowski, referring to the survey conducted by his institute in cooperation with the Ipsos Institute.

"Shopping as a feeling of happiness is increasingly being lost," said the researcher.

Having a lot and owning a lot is no longer a primary goal in life.

But not only this insight leads to a new modesty.

The population is divided in economic terms.

50 percent were not worried financially, but the other half felt that they were losing out in the crisis.
