Berlin (dpa) - In the debate about the scarce corona vaccine, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig points to the federal government's responsibility for procurement.

"I am concerned that we will not always have enough vaccine in time," said the SPD politician on Sunday evening in a "picture" broadcast.

But they assume that the federal government will ensure that enough vaccine is available.

"Right from the start, we divided the tasks as follows: The federal government organizes the vaccine and we on-site the logistics with our vaccination centers and above all with our mobile teams."

In his own words, Schwesig assumes that the lockdown, which is limited to January 10, will have to be extended.

The infections per hundred thousand inhabitants in seven days would have to be well below 50 "so that we are in better waters again - and that will still be a long way."

Although the vaccine gives hope and confidence, it should not make people reckless.

"We must continue to adhere to strict measures, and this includes, above all, that from today the Christmas rule is over and we can only see each other to a very small extent again."

In view of the many residents in nursing homes who are currently dying from Covid-19, Schwesig said that the obligation to test the nursing homes came very late.

It is true that since October there has been an opportunity for homes to purchase rapid tests and get paid for them.

However, this did not happen across the board.

At the Prime Minister's Conferences with the Chancellor there was always a lot of discussion about daycare centers and schools, but too little about care facilities.
