Hanover (dpa / lni) - The passenger who tested positive at Hanover Airport before Christmas did not have the new coronavirus variant from Great Britain.

The Hanover region announced on Monday.

Because of the new variant, the entry of 63 passengers from London was initially stopped on December 20.

Camp beds were set up for them in a terminal, only one person tested positive.

She and her family were taken to their destination on a quarantine transport, where they were supposed to isolate themselves.

Further details were not given for reasons of data protection.

The new variant of the coronavirus was first discovered in the UK and may be significantly more contagious than the previously known form. After the mutation became known, most EU states decided to largely restrict travel to and from Great Britain. In Germany, virus variant B.1.1.7 was found in a woman who flew from London to Frankfurt am Main on December 20. The mutated virus type has also been detected in Denmark and the Netherlands.
