Oberstdorf (dpa) - The start of a Four Hills Tournament for female ski jumpers threatens to be further delayed.
This is what tour president Johann Pichler told the APA news agency.
“Due to the corona situation, a women's tour will be postponed by one year or another.
The way it looks now, it will be very difficult for the coming year, ”said Pichler, who is also president of the Bischofshofen ski club.
Those responsible agree that they want to introduce such a tour.
So far, however, there are no concrete plans or a start date.
The women around Katharina Althaus have been fighting for more competitions in the World Cup and the connection to the men's tour for years.
The male ski jumpers, who start the 69th edition of the event on Monday (4.30 p.m. / ZDF and Eurosport), are open to such an alignment, as several top athletes such as Karl Geiger or Markus Eisenbichler have already said.
National coach Stefan Horngacher, on the other hand, recently answered a question about the possible introduction: "No comment from my side."
He is not a ladies' trainer and cannot give an answer.
