Alsdorf (dpa / lrs) - Around two months after an escalated family dispute in the Westerwald, the Koblenz public prosecutor has closed its investigations against two police officers.

On October 26, they used a firearm and a distance electro-pulse device (Taser) in Alsdorf in the Altenkirchen district in emergency aid or self-defense, the authority announced on Monday.

A policewoman shot a 22-year-old and seriously injured him.

The young man is said to have previously threatened to stab his mother and himself.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the investigations revealed, mainly on the basis of identical information from the witnesses present, that he then ran "with a knife in a threatening position" towards one of the alerted police officers and repeatedly announced that he would kill him.

The officer shot the young man twice with the taser and hit him the second time - around the same time as the bullet from a police officer's service weapon penetrated his hip.

The 22-year-old was seriously injured by the officer’s shot and had an emergency operation.

According to the information, he is still in pretrial detention in a correctional hospital.

The investigation into alleged attempted manslaughter against him continues.

According to the public prosecutor, the motive for the family quarrel is still unclear.

The accused said that he could not remember anything because of his alcohol consumption at the time.

Witnesses were currently being questioned about his amount of alcohol before the crime.

The 22-year-old has so far been considered guilty.
