After the first injections of the vaccine against the coronavirus on Sunday, only about twenty nursing homes will launch their campaign this week.

The massive destocking of doses should be done between January 10 and 15, the time for these establishments to obtain the consent of their residents.

Sunday, 45 French people were the first to receive the first injection of the vaccine against the coronavirus developed by the American-German tandem Pfizer / BioNTech.

A symbolic start for a vaccination campaign against Covid-19, the first phase of which will last for several weeks.

But we will still need a little patience for this campaign to become massive: there are only about twenty nursing homes ready to deploy this vaccine this week.

Massive vaccination in nursing homes in mid-January

A low number which is explained by the delay A delay which allows establishments to organize a vaccination schedule over three days maximum, but also to make pre-vaccination visits and collect patient consent.

A

sine qua non

step

.

"The elderly must be very comfortable with their consent," confirms Florence Arnaiz Maumé, general delegate of Synerpa, which represents private retirement homes.

"A patient shouldn't be like 'it's now or never'. If he feels the need, it can be in three weeks / a month."

Three dose deliveries

There will indeed be a possible catch-up for residents who do not want to be vaccinated right away.

A vaccination guide sent to nursing homes last week, specifies that there will be three deliveries of doses for these establishments.

The first on the basis of the consents obtained following these pre-vaccination consultations, the second 21 days later for the booster but also for the first injection of people who hesitated.

Finally, the third delivery will allow them to receive their last injection.
