Al-Shehab Organization for Human Rights called on Saturday for sending an international investigation committee to examine the conditions of prisoners and prisons in Egypt.

This came in an annual statistical report issued by the non-governmental organization located abroad, entitled "The human rights scene".

The organization stated that "the number of forcibly disappeared persons during the 7 years has reached 11,224, including 3045 in 2020."

Regarding the conditions in prisons, Al-Shehab indicated that the number of prisons has reached 68 so far, in addition to 382 detention centers.

The human rights organization pointed out that the number of prisons before 2013 was 43, indicating that there are "60 thousand detainees."

In addition, 774 deaths have been recorded inside those headquarters as a result of "medical negligence" since 2013, including 72 this year.

The organization issued 6 recommendations, including calling for an end to "violations and torture" in detention facilities and "the immediate release of patients in prisons, opening visits, and refraining from prolonged solitary confinement."

And it called for "the immediate disclosure of the places of forced detention, the opening of a comprehensive international investigation into all crimes, and the sending of an international rights investigation committee to investigate the crimes of enforced disappearance and violations inside prison facilities."

It was not possible to obtain an immediate comment from the Egyptian authorities regarding the authenticity of these figures or the accusations contained in the annual report of the Shehab Organization, which was established in Egypt in 2006 and is headed by the Egyptian lawyer and human rights defender Khalaf Bayoumi, who is outside the country.
