Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Eisbären Berlin have won their last game of the year in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

On Monday evening, the capital city beat the Krefeld Penguins with 5: 0 (1: 0, 2: 0, 2: 0).

Matt White scored two goals, and Kris Foucault, Mark Olver and Leonhard Pföderl scored for the efficient Berlin team, who also won their second home game of the season.

In front of empty stands in the arena at Ostbahnhof, the hosts determined the game from the start.

After an energetic individual action, Foucault ensured the well-deserved leadership.

Due to a few inaccuracies in the attack, however, the Berliners failed to expand the lead before the first break.

After the restart, the Eisbären threw themselves out of their rhythm with some time penalties, but used a counterattack that was outnumbered: White used a fine pass from Marcel Noebels.

Olver increased in the second third, deflecting a long-range shot from Stefan Espeland.

In the final section, it took less than two minutes for Pföderl to score the polar bears' fourth goal in the power play.

Shortly before the end of the game, White ensured the final score with his second goal.
