Hesse's Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) is not thinking of a foreseeable withdrawal from his office.
"The health disposition is the basis for everything," said Bouffier.
“I am very grateful that the cancer did not come back.
I don't take that for granted. "
That enables him to work very intensively, said the head of government.
"I do it with pleasure and with great responsibility in such a situation," said Bouffier, referring to the fight against the corona virus that has been going on for months.
"If you unexpectedly get a cancer diagnosis that is very serious, all other questions take a back seat."
Bouffier was diagnosed with cancer in early 2019.
After outpatient radiation therapy with subsequent rehabilitation, the disease is currently considered defeated.
The Prime Minister emphasized that he was very happy that he was doing well again.

Regarding his professional future and the office of head of government, the 69-year-old said: “We will discuss everything else when the time comes.
But the time has not come now. ”The upcoming state elections in Hesse are in autumn 2023.
