Despite the health upheavals for this unprecedented Christmas, some are looking to brighten up the holidays and go in search of their Christmas sweater.

Europe 1 went to meet them.

They scratch at the collar, are kitsch to perfection with their sequins, their patterns and their garish colors.

Europe 1 has gone out to meet those who do not let the coronavirus overcome their fetish tradition.

"The more kitsch, the better"

"The small houses, the small snow-covered landscape, the sleigh with Santa Claus and the reindeer all full of glitter ... I find that very cheerful. And then, we need cheerfulness at the moment", launches Carinne who comes from 'buy a sweater for her husband.

The model is all in wool and a little wide so that it can be bundled up well.

Each year, many of them take up the same challenge.

For three years, every winter, Julie must find the rare pearl: with relief, pompoms and even small lights.

"The more kitsch the better. It's just for the visual that seems fun," she exclaims, adding: "It's true that in recent years, I think we have needed to wear something off-trend. There is a cool side. "

A championship of the "ugliest sweater"

Margaux, too, already has her sweater, most often rolled up in a ball at the back of the wardrobe or worn as pajamas, but which sometimes serves to brighten up her family photo.

"It's to give to my sister. We said we would both put on Christmas sweaters to try and match, to make a nice little theme."

Sometimes the love of the Christmas sweater even goes as far as confrontation ... friendly of course.

For four years, several hundred have participated in the very special championship of the "ugliest sweater".
