Due to the new mutation of the coronavirus, it has been forbidden to transport passengers from the UK to Sweden since 21 December.

Still, 33 people who boarded the plane landed in London at Arlanda on Saturday morning.

- It is not allowed to fly from Great Britain to Sweden, it is a government decision.

We were taken to bed when we saw that there were passengers on the plane.

The Swedish Transport Agency will find out how this can happen, says Patrik Engström to SvD.

Of the 33 passengers, 29 were Swedish citizens, four were Finnish citizens who were going on a flight to Helsinki.

"Is contrary to the decision"

According to Mikael Andersson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Agency, this is a misunderstanding and that British Airways misunderstood the Swedish authorities' message.

The airline must now have been informed of what applies.

- This is a trip that has gone against the existing flight ban that the government has decided on.

As I have described it to me, the airline has misunderstood the information about what rules currently apply to air traffic to Sweden.

There is also a ban on entry, and the ban on entry and flight has been mixed up.

Informed the British

The Swedish Transport Agency has informed the British Civil Aviation Administration that British Airways has violated the Swedish flight ban.

- We have also been in contact with the Public Health Agency and informed about what happened.

Swedavia has also contacted the local infection control, says Mikael Andersson.

Can travel to Sweden - via Kastrup

Despite the ban, it is possible to travel from the UK to Sweden, with a stopover at Copenhagen Airport Kastrup.

The airline SAS does not want to state how many people travel that way to Sweden.

- No, we do not have such figures available.

But there are a number of travelers who travel that way, says Sille Beck, spokesperson at SAS.

Do you give them any special information due to the travel ban for Denmark and the UK or the flight ban that applies from the UK?

- No we do not.

All countries have different rules during the corona pandemic and we urge all travelers to keep track of the authorities' information for each destination.
