Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard had to have eight stitches put in after a blow to the mouth on Friday against Denver, but should be able to face the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday in the NBA.

Kawhi Leonard was injured in a collision with his teammate Serge Ibaka during the fourth quarter of the Clippers '121-108 victory on the Nuggets' floor.

The 29-year-old winger was struck in the face by Ibaka's elbow and collapsed on the pitch, bloodied.

Bleeding from his mouth, Leonard was unable to resume play.

"He's going to be fine for him," Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said.

"He got up and walked off the pitch so he's fine."

In 30 minutes on the floor, Kawhi Leonard had scored 21 points, distributed seven assists and took five rebounds to secure the second victory in two games for the Los Angeles franchise.

Leonard has been the NBA Finals MVP twice, winning the title with San Antonio in 2014 and Toronto in 2019.
