Kitzingen (dpa / lby) - A 35-year-old broke through a barrier with his car in Kitzingen and, according to the police, “flew” his vehicle around 70 meters through the air.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, the officials announced on Saturday evening.

The 35-year-old noticed a left turn too late in the early morning of Boxing Day and drove through the barrier.

Immediately behind the boundary there was a long pile of gravel that made sure that the car was raised, as it was called.

"It worked like a jump," said a police spokesman.

The car finally came to a halt in an adjacent garden.

The man was trapped in his car and taken to a hospital.
