The Malian army announced on Saturday December 26 that it had killed a dozen suspected jihadists in the center of the country, near the Burkinabè border, during an attack on a military convoy, without suffering any loss.

The attack took place Thursday afternoon between Dinangourou and Mondoro, the army said on Twitter.

"The attached detachment (by the attackers) received fire support from the aviation," she said, without giving further details.

The balance sheet is established "on the enemy side (to) ten terrorists killed", without loss of human life for the Malian soldiers, according to the same source.

"War crimes" and "crimes against humanity"

The center of Mali has been caught in a whirlwind of violence since the appearance in 2015 of a jihadist group led by the Fulani preacher Amadou Koufa, who has largely recruited from his community.

Clashes have multiplied between the Peuls, mainly herders, and the Bambara and Dogon ethnic groups practicing mainly agriculture, who have created their "self-defense groups" in particular by relying on traditional "dozos" hunters.

In a report sent last week to the UN Security Council, the International Commission of Inquiry on Mali accuses the Malian army and other protagonists of "war crimes", and of "crimes against humanity "jihadist groups and a Dogon militia.
